Fa la la la la! Its Christmas in Paris!

It is hair show week at TCOB and boy has Santa come through here and threw up all over! Sounds gross, but its really pretty! Christmas trees decorated and light up, presents wrapped under the tree, lights hung from the ceiling and mush much more! Simply elegant and gorgeous! I am only displaying a mannequin for this show, but I worked very hard on my doll. She has a bow in her hair, made of her own hair and a big bump and crazy pony! The students closer to graduating all have models that will be displaying an up-do and gorgeous outfit. I am excited to see what everyone has done tomorrow night for the show!
Other than the planning and working out booty's off for the show this place is poppin' with clients. Got to get everything ready and looking fantastic for the holidays. Boy, I am sure getting to work on all my skills this time of year. Today I did a perm, hair cut, and roller set on the same client. It was my Grandma of course and she left looking fabulous! One of many clients! Well back to work getting ready for the show!

Merry Christmas from Paris aka TCOB!

Happy Anniversary TCOB!

It's a special day here at TCOB, our 9 year anniversary is upon us. Specials galore, cupcakes, cake pops, and all of us looking snazzy in our black and white with pops of color! Mrs. Komzack was being silly and let Nicki and I go outside for a breathe of fresh air... with a cake pop! Yum! With black and white as the dress code today and I love being able to wear my scarf since the weather calls for it. So many clients are coming in today for all the $9 specials its crazy around here. Every day there is a special and it makes for a lot of variety in services around here. I love it.
It's the beginning of a new month and that means another one down. 8 more to go, but so many people are going to graduate before then. Seeing friends go is sad for us, but awesome to watch them head off to take their state board and become stylists! I can't wait until its my turn! We are in the midst of planning a potluck lunch for all our December grads coming up. They are always so delicious. Can't wait for lunch tomorrow.
As for the upcoming future I am expecting my family and friends to be coming in more for services. I love being on the floor and able to practice what I learned in freshman class. I am getting much more comfortable with clients and services and have even made some regulars already. Back to work I go for the day.

Come enjoy our anniversary specials!

Happy Thanksgiving! (forgot to publish)

Happy thanksgiving everyone! This may be a short week here at school, but holy moley we are busy! All the holiday clients are making appointments to get beautified for their families and friends. We are getting all booked up which mean tons of practice.
Since we blogged last I have fully made my way onto the floor and had plenty of appointments to keep me busy. When I am not with clients I am trying to be the good student and work on my worksheet (5 tasks to practice on mannequins when you don't have a client). I have jumped over my fear of doing my first perm on a client this week. It wasn't so bad, just took me forever! I will definitely have to practice on wrapping it a lot faster! Only practice and time will help with that. I am just excited to do more hair cuts and dive into more color clients. I did have a request for a color next week... wonder who it could be?!?!? Something to look forward to!
I have had a great past few weeks. It was my birthday last week and a day full of surprises. My amazing friends from school decorated my station, got me a princess cake, had a potluck and sang to me! It was awesome! I have never had to go to school on my birthday before due to it being a holiday, but for this being the first time, it was well worth it. Thanks to all my TCOB friends and staff. I even got a haircut by Mrs. Rivera to make sure I looked extra pretty for all the festivities! So much fun around here.
As the short week winds down, so am I. I will continue to look forward to what is still to come and hopefully jump some more hurdles of fear as I continue to do services on clients.

Until next time,

Time is flying!

Wow... Time is flying by. Last week we had two new starts begin. While they started with their curriculum I finished off my Freshman final. Passed my written with flying colors and am almost done with my practical. You know what that means right?? On to the floor I go next week! I am so excited! So all of you reading this that want to attribute to my learning, come get a service done by me... Jacqui!
Last week as 2 come join the TCOB family, one graduated! It was so great to see my good friend, Cassandra graduate and get ready for the next steps to get her license and start her career. I am one happy friend, although sad not to see her smile at school everyday. This week we watch another senior student will make the leap from this little pond to the real world. Congratulations to Evangelina!
A lot is going on around here between finishing freshman curriculum and moving out to the floor, so many coming and going, learning, book work, and all the fun in this building! Just got my hair trimmed today as well by the one and only Mrs. Rivera and I will say it looks fantastic! One of the many perks of going to school for beauty is making yourself beautiful while you are here. Cant wait to update you all next week as I make my way onto the floor.

Halloween at Beauty School... Another Month down

Now that I have figured out this system (This is why I do beauty, not computers) I can start posting more event and fun thins from school. Since I wrote the last entry....a month ago... So much has happened. I won a nail art contest the next day. Now everyone wants me to do their nails for them all the time! Oh well, I see it is great practice. Since I was the only new start when I began, I jumped in with 3 other girls in the Freshman class. They have all hit their 300 hours and moved to the floor, but don't worry they didn't leave me alone because I got 2 more new starts last month. :) But my time is about to come and I work on my freshman final next week and onto the floor I go!!! So excited!

Today we are celebrating Halloween at school. Costumes, candy, trick or treating... we go BIG! Check out our pictures on the TCOB facebook page. We all got creative!  As I look around I see a referee, Aunt Jemima, a cowgirl, a couple old ladies with rollers and cigarettes (not the clients people), football players, a witch or 2, some bunnies hopping around, and then there is me.. the Ninja Turtle! Told you we were a wild bunch!

Lots to look forward to here in the near future. I am about to go style "Blondie" my mannequin with some messy curls after lunch. Then I may go spy on my friends on the floor as they cut and style away.

One Month Down...10 more to go

Hi there! Welcome to my blog created as a student just beginning at Tucson College of Beauty. I have just finished my first month and WOW what a month it has been. For as comfortable as I am here it seems like I have been here much more that a month. That just shows how awesome everyone is! Being in the "day" class is a big commitment. Changing my work schedule, sleeping schedule, eating schedule, and gym time was a shock, but so worth it. I am flying through this program. In one month I have learned color, highlighting, wet styles, braiding, scalp treatments, roller sets and not to mention the technical stuff and all the "behind the salon" tricks, trades, and complicated stuff. A lot of information on the brain!

I love watching my models reactions every saturday after their service. My most recent model was a retouch and refresher and I was so proud of myself. Not only did she love it, but so did her family. I'll pat myself on the back for that one. Now, tomorrow when she comes back for lowlights will be the test on making my first ever regular client. Cross your fingers for me, because I can only cross mine until I begin!

With one month down and 10 more to go I have found my home at TCOB and I can't wait to tell you all about what is to come. I'll post my pictures, videos, and more posts to updae you on my days at TCOB. I may even get wild and put some purple in my hair just for you guys :) So, come back and check me out...
